Joint Mobilization
Joint mobilization helps reduce pain and increase ROM in an area where two bones meet, such as the knee, shoulder, or hip joints. It’s helpful for patients with arthritis of the hips or knees, bursitis (inflammation of the fluid-filled sacs between muscles and bones), arthrofibrosis (scar tissue in the joints), or a labrum tear.
During a joint mobilization, your therapist uses his/her hands to guide and adjust bones into proper position while you relax. This movement may be repeated several times until your therapist determines that the adjustment is complete.
It’s helpful for patients with:
- Shoulder pain
- Hip pain
- Plantar fasciitis of the heel
- Knee injuries or arthritis of the knee
- Adhesive capusulitis
- Post surgical
