Rheumatoid Arthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease that affects the joints. It develops when your body’s defense system (immune system) mistakenly attacks healthy tissue, such as the membranes that line your bones and provide a cushion between joints. RA can also affect other parts of the body including the skin, blood vessels, nerves, eyes, lungs, heart, and kidneys. Symptoms include pain, swelling, and stiffness in the affected area.
Physical therapy focuses on reducing pain and swelling, improving function during activities of daily living, and strengthening muscles around the affected area.
Greendale Physical Therapy can help you manage these issues, including:
- Customized exercise program to improve joint mobility and flexibility
- Pain-relieving modalities, such as heat, ice, and electrical stimulation
- Strengthening the muscles surrounding the affected joint to help support it and reduce pain
Greendale Physical Therapy, LLC helped me regain the strength in my ankles and feet to keep me walking and continue to exercise and golf. The staff are all well skilled, pleasant, and supportive. I would highly recommend them to my friends for PT. They are a great group!
